AUSTRALIA | ARNHEMLAND WATER BUFFALO HUNT

Darwin,

ABOUT THIS HUNT

Northern Territory, Arnhemland, Top End—names that beckon the intrepid hunter to take on the Australia’s famed Water buffalo in Central Arnhemland, Northern Territory. This exciting hunt for Water buffalo, takes place on 3 contiguous concessions totaling over 1 million acres of free-range wilderness, operated exclusively for your hunt.

The hunting grounds are dissected by the headwaters of the Mann and Wilton Rivers which give life to these vast concessions. Feeding these main rivers all year long are springs which flow out of escarpments into creeks. It is at the bottom of these escarpments amongst the many gently rolling hills, valleys and creeks that the old mature bulls roam and feed. Back along the river there are many substantial floodplains and grasslands that the buffalo feed through on their way to the river for water each day. The rivers are small, shallow and sand-lined with native gum and fig trees making for a picturesque setting wherever one might stop along the river.

All safaris are 7 days in duration. Consisting of 5 hunting days with a day of travel to and from Darwin to camp. It is approximately 8 hours driving from Darwin to the Arnhemland camps. Charter flights are available on request. We have a 100 percent success rate on mature buffalo and are blessed with great hunting areas and sole access to plentiful numbers of buffalo. It is not uncommon to see 300-400 buffalo in a single day. Whilst on safari wild oxen/scrub bulls, wild boar, feral donkey and cow buffalo can also be hunted.

Our safaris are suitable for all hunters of all fitness levels and ages. For the older or less fit individuals we utilize our modern and well maintained ATV’s to access remote valleys, water sources and river flood plains. This allows us to place our hunters right in the action. From there it is a matter of spotting mature bulls and then conducting a quiet stalk into shooting range. Very little physical effort is required to hunt buffalo this way.

For the hunter who is fit and loves a true challenge on foot we have over a million acres with many superb hunting areas that can only be accessed on foot. These clients could expect to walk anywhere from 10 – 25km in a day in search of big bulls in remote valleys. We love this type of hunting!

The hunting is purely spot and stalk hunting. Whether it is by foot or by vehicle we are searching for mature bulls, then making a plan for a well-executed stalk. The hunter can expect to see between 300-400 buffalo a day. The concessions buffalo numbers are extremely healthy due to the remoteness of the location, prime habitat and our management of the game.

Our camps can accommodate a total of 6 people in one booking—whether it’s 6 hunters, 3 couples, 4 hunters and 2 observers. We offer two styles of accommodation: The purpose-built hunting lodge or a traditional tented camp. The lodge is ideal for those who would like to bring their wife or family or those that like the little comforts of home whilst on a hunting safari: 4 en-suite guest rooms, air-conditioned rooms, Wifi, satellite TV. The picturesque and comfortable tented camp is located on the banks of the Wilton River and is equipped with: canvas tents, toilets, hot showers, WiFi, satellite TV.
